Welcome to our new literature study! I hope you have enjoyed reading Poppy, so far. I love this book, and hope that you will too!
Today in class, let’s talk about how we should use this blog together to talk about / write about our thoughts and questions from reading the book.
Maybe we could pretend to be a character and write about what we’re thinking and how we’re feeling after each chapter?
Maybe we could make up questions to ask each other about the book? Not “thin” questions like “What is the owl’s name?” but big, bold questions like “Why do you think Mr. Ocax is such a control freak?”
Or maybe, we write what we’re thinking and feeling after we read each chapter?
And maybe we can talk about connections that we’re making between the book and our own lives, or between this book and another one. Or we could even talk about connections that we’re making between what’s happening in this book and in our world around us. Does Mr. Ocax being a ruler and tyrant make you think about any rulers or tyrants in the world? Or a situation where one person or thing has all the power?
hmmm…. lots of great stuff to think about. I can’t wait to get started.
